It is a crazy world out there right now, and I know I am personally staying positive, helping others anyway I can, social distancing and of course turning to natural remedies to keep my immune system healthy and supported. (If you are reading this and have no idea what I am talking about we are currently y in the midst of the global pandemic that is COVID-19).
I recently put up on my insta stories my newest twist on my hot cacao, which I super charged to becoming an immune boosting and hormone balancing powerhouse!
I had so many people ask me for the recipe I thought I would pop it up here for so that everyone can make it (or their own version of it!)
It does need a few ingredients but you can add or make substitutions as needed!
However each ingredient has been chosen for a reason, which I will explain more why here:
Reishi - Reishi mushroom is a popular fungus used in Eastern medicine. It thought to help boost the immune system through its effects on white blood cells, particularly in people who are ill. (I use Superfeast medicinal mushrooms code: pcostowellness for 10% off)
Raw cacao - Cacao is rich in polyphenols, which makes it a potent antioxidant. It has also been shown to influence the immune system, in particular the inflammatory innate response and the systemic and intestinal adaptive immune response.
Cysterhood herbal tea - Cysterhood tea contains a range of powerful detoxifying and hormone balancing herbs. It also contains herbs such as Lemon balm which has shown promising results in helping to promote a healthy immune system by initiating a healthy immune response and promoting health of the cell wall.
Hemp Milk- Hemp milk contains antioxidants that help to rid your body of those harmful free radicals. It also strengthens your immune system, which helps stave off diseases and sickness.
Lemon- Lemons are high in vitamin C, a natural antioxidant which enhances the immune system and has antiviral and antibacterial properties.
Prebiotic- One of the beneficial effects of prebiotics is stimulation of immune system, which can be direct or indirect through increasing population of beneficial microbes or probiotics, especially lactic acid bacteria and bifidobacteria, in the gut. Preibotics are also extremely beneficial for hormone health. Raw honey- Raw honey contain pytonutrients which have anti-bacterial and anti-viral properties that can help to boost your immune system and fight sickness. I am very picky with the honey I will consume due to ethical reasons, thankfully my dad has several bee hives and sourced ethically produced honey thanks to his Flow Hives
So lets get into how to make it!
- 1 cup brew Cysterhood tea
- 1 cup hemp milk
- 1 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tsp reishi mushroom powder (I use Superfeast)
- 1 tsp prebiotic powder (I use Fertile gut)
- 1 tbsp raw honey (add less or more to taste)
- 1 squeeze of fresh lemon
1. Brew 1 cup of Cysterhood tea
2. Add all ingredients (except the lemon) including the brewed tea into a pan over a stove on medium heat.
3. Once warmed blend (with a stick blender or in a blender) on high until creamy and smooth, for about 30 seconds. The mixture should be frothy.
4. Pour into mugs and add a squeeze of lemon
5. ENJOY the hormone balancing and immune boosting benefits
